Thanks to Chris, 9 years old, the Veeckenplein in Hellevoetsluis has a beautiful playground again. The municipality cleaned up the playground in the middle of last year. The devices were rejected. And no budget was reserved for new playground equipment. When this became known, Chris wrote a letter to the mayor and asked why there were no more new devices. This letter has led to a conversation. The municipality has released a budget and asked BOERplay to set up a new playground for Veeckenplein together with Chris. It had to be a device for the entire neighborhood. That’s why Chris compiled a list of questions and sent it around to all the kids in the ward to see what the kids wanted.
After that, a meeting was organized with the children to find the most suitable device. The ideas were brought together by Boer in the final design, which was presented and approved to the municipality. Finally, the playground still had to be festively opened. Chris has made an invitation. On Wednesday 8 April, Alderman Margriet den Brok opened the playground in the presence of many residents. And the children of the Veeckenplein can enjoy themselves again in their own playground!
