PLAYING TOGETHER
An appropriate outdoor space is also extremely important for healthcare organisations that accompany people with disabilities. Living groups include people with physical or intellectual disabilities. Or people with autistic disorder in the broadest sense of the word. How nice it is that you can play together in a playground that is equipped for everyone, with and without disabilities.
More and more you see that an outdoor space at a care organization plays a multifunctional broader role in society. Other groups and local residents also sometimes use the same outdoor space. The design is adjusted accordingly. With smart and appropriate design elements, these outdoor spaces are tailored to the groups of space users in such a way that they can make the most of the outdoor air and surroundings. People with a physical or intellectual disability make use of the environment partly independently or with their supervisors, family and/or caregivers. By fitting it in, everyone enjoys a wonderful outdoor space together for playing, moving, snoozing and meeting each other.
FROM YOUNG TO OLD
We set up the area in such a way that the residents with disabilities, from young to old, can play or stay together or alone in the open air. For example, in the experience garden you can scream and rock in a family swing or turn around in a wheelchair merry-go-round. And how about a wobble bridge for wheelchair users or an accessible play equipment with lots of play elements. Motion equipment, or fitness equipment for occupational therapy, are also part of a total design. And also think of enough places to relax or help with, for example, an animal enclosure or vegetable garden. And on the terrace you can socialize with other residents and supervisors: play together, recreate, or make music. Suggestions for supporting play and experience elements for this design concept can be found in our product range for inclusive play.
In addition to this design concept for experience gardens for people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities, we have even more design concepts specifically for care & well-being:
- Down Memory Lane, experience gardens for dementia care
- Exploring Senses, stimulates the senses of visually and auditoryly limited
- Forever Young, for longer independent living and vital elderly people
