Keep your feet dry over a water buffer in the Barefoot Park. A great challenge for visitors, but also for designers and contractors.
Challenging crossing over water buffer
Have you ever traveled barefoot on a course full of challenges? The Barefoot Park in Brunssum wanted to make a water buffer part of the experience route. The new water buffer, which has been relocated due to the construction of the new ring road near Brunssum, offered opportunities to add an exciting element to the course. Two new obstacle courses over the water have become part of the total course of 4 km over various surfaces and with different challenges. BOERplay provided a completely tailor-made process for this, with the focus on challenge and diversity and (trying to) prevent wet feet!
The hiking experience for young and old!
Experience and adventure are central to the Barefoot Park. By walking the trail barefoot, you are close to nature and you get to know nature in an exciting and natural way. The dress code is bare feet, so shoes and socks must be removed! Experience nature up to your toes!
From water buffer to water trail
The construction of the new bypass at Brunssum meant that water management in the area also had to be revised. To this end, the old water buffer for rainwater was moved, among other things. The new water buffer then offered opportunities to add an exciting element to the existing course.
Natural and challenging elements
The course is alternately constructed with posts, platforms and balancing beams. FSC® certified Robinia wood has been chosen in combination with sturdy vandal-resistant ropes. In order to add extra excitement and challenge, the design of this crossing has been chosen to deviate from the usual sometimes: for example, a “step” is occasionally missing, so you have to pay close attention all the time. The level also changes continuously: from easy to a somewhat more difficult level and vice versa. The course is discovered by the visitors in different ways, it even lends itself to boot camp exercises! In short: a challenging course for young and old!
Collaboration and participation
Both Het Blotevoetenpark and the province of Limburg, as well as the municipality of Brunssum and the implementing parties joined forces in this plan, creating broad support and enabling the project to lead to a good result. A project where water management and recreation have found each other!
