We designed a new playground for the city of Salzkotten. It replaces an old wooden playground structure. The existing play equipment was very old and needed to be replaced.
ROCKS play equipment
When designing the new playground, we deliberately based it on the original situation. The original structure of the equipment remained clearly recognizable; only the colors were chosen to ensure the playground blended well into the natural surroundings. As a result, the playground is now a harmonious part of the outdoor area.
Sustainability is a key aspect of this project. The large slide from the old play tower was integrated into the new ROCKS play structure. By reusing this element, no new raw materials were required. This approach aligns well with BOERplay GmbH’s R-strategy, which focuses on reuse and resource conservation. Reusing the existing materials also brought a financial benefit. The freed-up budget was used to integrate additional play features into the playground. This not only ensured sustainability but also further improved the quality of the play area. The children were immediately thrilled with their new playground and took possession of it right away—and that’s what it’s all about in the end.
