"In 1961, Boer Speeltoestellen (Boer Play) was founded in Nieuwendijk (NL). The range at the time was only one product, a plastic flower planter. We have now grown into one of the largest manufacturers in our industry. The range has expanded to include street furniture, water slides, sports and the largest division of the company play equipment. Exclusively FSC-wood
Since 2010 Boer Playground is FSC certified. "From that moment we decided to only use FSC wood in all our products. Not only because we, as a manufacturer of products for children, have a responsibility to these children, but also because we always want to meet the needs of our clients. Many of our clients are municipalities that want to use products made of good wood. In addition, our choice of using only FSC certified wood makes it a lot easier for us . We do this because no duplicate inventory and product lines to handle. "
Boer Speeltoestellen works with a solid group of wood suppliers. "It's in the past happened that our demand for FSC wood was so great that it was difficult for the supplier. Now our suppliers know an alternative way if there is less supply. This way we can still use FSC wood exclusively to continue to work and deliver. "
Wood will always be important
The range of wooden play equipment consists of three product lines. In all three lineswood is included: Toddler Play (age 1 to 6) and Nature Play (age 4 to 12): Louro Tauba or similar hardwood and Adventure Play (age 1 to 12): Acacia Robinia. "In our Adventure Play equipment wood is an important component. Each pole that is processed in such a piece is unique so the piece of equipment has an adventurous and natural appearance."
Besides partner of FSC Netherland Boer Speeltoestellen is also partner of the WWF and UNICEF in the Netherlands. "With both organizations, we have developed special play areas. These have been placed in the municipality of Teylingen, Hellendoorn and Groningen. 10% of the cost of the playgrounds we have donated to the organizations concerned.
